The Empty Race

I was doing a Solo sloop PVP match, my opponent was slightly outmatched in the sail department by me.
In the middle of the fight he beaches himself on cinder islet.
I try to board him with a cannon shot but undershoot and end up on the island.
See a rowboat and try to use against him.
In the meantime he turns to chase my sloop that was going away from the map.
Our ships are side by side, I try to use my cannon to board his sloop but under shoot again, but I see he's in the water too and my auto translator picks up him saying "NO!!!"
I decide to swim back to get a mermaid to try and get to the sloops as fast as possible.
I see his sloop is running ahead of mine I drop the anchor anyway and start bailing the water that was starting to raise due to the collision.
My screen was already kinda black and suddenly it stops.
His sloop had won the race out of bounds.
