The sea is depressing.

  • This is a warning. A tale. A rant. Whatever.
The Sea at times may be cruel but that's because us and nature are cruel to it
It's depressing, which is why I express this discussion in the most depressing form of media:poetry.

The Sea of Thieves is full of life
But the sea is also full of strife
*I went here for excitement and adventure *
But the amount of cruelty is much more than a mere misadventure
These tales and stories are depressing
But the tales of the lives in the sea need adressing

First off the megaladons, attacking you with it's teeth,
But as mean as they seem, there is much more going on beneath
For while we've all killed a couple of these big teethed beasts
There are "hunters" who like to feast
Shooting all megaladons down, they are less brain, more brawn,
cause they're wondering why no megaladons spawn!
    You shot them all down!
Stop looking at me with that angry frown!
    They're leaving, dying disappearing,
Their blood, over your face, you're smearing,
Some of them were friendly, but you killed them anyway, for money and for fame
    Megaladon hunters, for shame!

That isn't even the worst, for at least the megaladons get the escape of death.
One creature is being tortured, with their every breath.
The kraken, singular, blind and cannot see,
roams the sea and "attacks" you and me.
You may think "oh no they want to eat!"
But what if they just want a friend to feel complete?
It gets lonely when you're a many tentacle creature.
No one enjoys your finest features
Not only that, it's blind, cut it some slack!
Maybe it thought some predator is attacking and that why it decided to attack.
Whatever the reason, it's still alive but probably in pain.
And it never changes, it's in pain, again and again.

    A tale more heard,
    A tale more transferred,
    A plague that lurks
    Turning sirens into jerks
    Gone was their song
and now, with their fellow mermaids, they can't get along.
    Filled with hate,
More monsters, they began to create.
Lured people in and they were taken,
New things, the plague mermaids were making
We all know who they are,
I don't need to say their name, their tales go far.

But what about the ones lured?
    What have they endured?
    Well, once human, now turned,
What it feels to be on the other side of a blade, they have learned.
They once had hopes and dreams like us, but now we just kill.
Whether this is right or not, we do not think and mill.
These monsters of different types, can they be reversed out of this state?
Or is it just their fate?

Worse still, those aren't the only ones impacted by a curse
    The sadness gets worse
Skeletons. The most common thing we fight.
Even they go through their own plight.
Most don't remember much or even anything at all.
And to a single bullet, most will fall.
    Do they ever come back?
    The answers...I lack.
But one thing for sure, they once were human,
Once again killed by a crewman.

And that ain't even the last of those who got cursed,
for more death and despair, it is need to fulfill the seas thirst.
Phantoms, those who escaped the land of dead and now are among the living,
    a land most unforgiving.
    Most working for the flame.
The fate awaiting them, the same.
    More attacking, trying.
    More hurting, dying.
Why is all the cursed ones aggressive?
Especially since most, with their attacking is excessive.
    Some cursed ones are passive,
But the amount of despair, is massive.
Is all this really the fault of the sea?
No, it's the fault of the inhabitants, that's what it be.

For pirates suck as much as this rhyme,
it's no surprise that our very existence is a crime.
But not only do we have many slain,
    we still somehow complain.
"Ohh, they're too easy to kill! Not enough spawn, and not enough loot!"
Why, oh why, do we still dispute?
    The pirates life is cruel.
    Sometime I think I'm a fool,
    For going into the shroud,
cause now I'm trapped in this life by a cloud.
But then I realise all I need is a grog,
and the righteous part of my mind turns to fog.
Then I stumble out into the fresh sea breeze.
And forget about the fact I'm a pain, I'm a disease.

So moral of the story:people bad.
Not that big of a statement.

Anyone gonna try and disagree? Or do we all recognise we suck?

  • that energy you used for this doesn't have a requirement

it's a choice, lean into the negative or create something positive/productive with it.

Service creates results. Service can be exercised in many different ways, you get to create your own if you so wish.

You identify your principles, establish discipline, and you walk consistently with productive intentions

Leadership, hold yourself accountable and it strengthens integrity.
Integrity, it is what keeps self afloat during pursuit of service to others.

If you want change, don't demand it, create it.

    You have what it takes

  • @wolfmanbush you think I ain’t positive? When it comes to sea of thieves I am one of the most positive people I have met. But..sometimes you gotta face the facts. Like the fact this post is just a DISTRACTION from the fact that you’ve killed 1,000 megaladons! Well, mr wolf bush man, you may be able to win others over with your big vocabulary, but you can’t fool me! You don’t even drink grog! What kind of pirate are you? Wake up, sheeple!

I've killed a lot more than that

  • Remind me, what happened to the gentleman in the above gif?

Remind me, what happened to the gentleman in the above gif?

    the inevitable outcome
he sang his final farewell and adieu
while having the fortune of freedom that he exercised while at sea

  • ...which is a very poetic way of saying he died, screaming, while being devoured by one of the sharks he spent his life hunting, right? Perhaps that little bit of karmic balance will lift Pirate REALwebber69's spirits! People may suck, but they cannot escape the 'inevitable outcome'.

  • @ntraills of course!

It is time…for the krakens revenge arc!
It will be upon us soon…and I’ll be one of the only people left after it happens…then we can move our spider friends across the shroud and we’ll live happily ever after! (Apart from the siren attacks, don’t know what to do about them.)

look at the situation they got me facing
I can't live a normal pirate's life, I was raised by the sea
so I gotta be down with the hunter team
too much milestone watchin', got me chasing dreams

Well maybe it wouldn’t have to be a “revenge” arc if you didn’t hunt them. I mean come on the kraken deserves their revenge.
I mean how would you feel if:
-Some random pirates stumble across your home and claim it their own.
-They begin to attack your family.
-They lock up your mother and you have to run away from them.
-They find you anyway and PERMANENTLY BLIND you.
-You are now all alone, all your friends and family have left or are dead.
-If you even stick ONE of your tentacles out of the water now, it gets shot. Even if it’s just to say hello or make a friend, you’re quickly shot down. And every time you’re shot down, you lose a piece of yourself.
-Your tentacles get shot a lot and you are, understandably, in lots of pain. So you cry. You cry so loud everyone around the sea can hear you.
-Despite your cries for help, no one helps you. Instead some of the pirates just complain you’re “too easy”.
-You continue this never ending cycle of pain, over and over again…not one single break from the pain. It’s constant, never ending PAIN.

    You make strong points

I will share with you why I extreme hunt the way I do.

    I kill, that's what I do. I hunt, that's what I do

Krakens, megs, skelly ships/fleets, hostile pvpers.
These are opponents that want to fight, they are prepared to defend, they will take me out if given the chance. None of them will quit from our interaction. Nobody is going to get overly discouraged from our interaction. Their numbers will remain sustainable.

    Non hostile pvers
These are not opponents until they choose to become them
I can get my own loot, I don't need their loot a majority of the time.
I don't want to fight pirates that cannot defend themselves, protect themselves, I'm not here to "teach them a lesson".

I kill what aims to kill me, what brings a fight to me.
I do this in an extreme way so that I never starve for thrill
I do this alone so that I make the decisions, so I am accountable for them.

  • @wolfmanbush I do agree a little bit of hunting never hurt anyone. Even I’ve killed a couple of megs. But when some people start complaining about how no spawn, it seems a bit entitled…and when you get to a point where you have hunted over 1,000 megs, it gets concerning. In my opinion, 1,000 is a concerning amount of things normally. But if you take into account the fact that:
    1.it’s over 1,000
    2.It’s a huge freaking shark
3.It’s inside a small area of the world
…that’s when things get really concerning.
And then you realise…the megaladons were first summoned by song. Were they brought over by the song? Or maybe we were being too loud while they were sleeping, and they are now forever grumpy? Do they even belong here?!?
And have you ever seen a megaladon EAT someone? I haven’t. I’ve just kinda hurt myself on their big sharp teeth.
Maybe megaladons just enjoy the taste of wood.

Oh well, whatever. Do what you want to do. I can’t stop you. Though I do admit that killing and hunting being what you just DO, reminds me of someone…does the number 47 mean anything to you?

If it makes you feel any better I've gone out of my way to not kill pigs for years. Very very low pig kill count

my chicken kills are fairly low

I have shot and sliced a lot of snakes though because getting poisoned annoys me.

I also don't shoot pets out of cannons

at least solace can be found in the outpouring of love that has been shown, for his family to see and that he lived to see 24 and well beyond
