Ugh I keep seeing “dedicated arena players” for the shadow drop cut off times. Let’s be honest, dedicated arena players are the ones that have 240 wins weapons and all.
What this should’ve been was. “Hey let’s all celebrate arena before it closes and if you get to level 50 before March 10th you unlock all this stuff as a celebration”.

I'm someone who reached 49 in every trading company before hitting pirate legend on purpose because I liked having something left to achieve.
I promise you, I was way more dedicated to the game than the vast vast majority of pirate legends.
Now I feel like I need to grind to level 50 of the hunter's call right now instead of just letting it happen in the most organic, enjoyable way possible.
I should have just AFK'd in arena the first month it came out, then enjoyed it once I finally go to 50.
This is a terrible precedent to set
@lizalaroo Isn't it what happens ? People don't really care about earning those sets, it's just the way Rare acts. The content doesn't really matter, it's the way you bring it. I'd prefer receiving nothing or having all of my Arena stuff removed like everyone else rather than logging in, seeing they remove Arena and then saying people who would to grind it a bit before the end OR finishing 1 or 2 levels can't because Rare thinks it's unfair ? I mean, that knife in the back of the community is unfair.
Even tho I disagree with the decision to close down the Arena, I do fully understand and support it. The only thing that bugs me is the Good Boy Set. I believe that, being 49 almost 50 at the time of the cutoff, I earned the rewards, I feel like no matter how much you've played, if you're not rank 50, you're as good as a rank 5 and it kind of ticks me a little bit, especially since I was planing on playing in Arena with friends this afternoon to get my rank 50 (I'm in NA-Est Timezone). To that I could think of 2 quick solutions:
1st - Give players until the 1st of February before cutting off, it would let players who want to get that set the bonus exp of the Community Day, if they swish to spend a part of it in the arena and not in the Adventure mode
2nd - Lowering it to level 40 or 45. Could be lower, to your own discretion, but anyone who has about those ranks played enough to be worthy of the set in my opinion
So yeah, these are my 2 suggestions! :D
Still disappointed with arena removal, started not long ago in arena but liked it, it needs fixes and improvements, some new modes and tournaments but not closing. Some of the players are interested in challenging battles instead of lore and tales.
Plus, it would be possible to give us an opportunity to finish the 50th level before the March 10th for the good boy ship set award,
no one knew that the arena would be closed.
Well... here we are I guess... Damn it's a bit sad, not because I enjoyed Arena for the past year but because I was among the first players to ever test Arena mode back in the Pioneers days... and believe me when I say, it was really fun to play and meet new people, some that I even recognized from the forums or Twitter, it was such an amazing feeling.
I will never forget those awesome 2-3 days sessions, mostly during the weekends, when I got to hop in and play with @Skulliah and meet with @musicmee @lizalaroo @KattTruewalker other Boatswains and many others. Every time they announced an Arena session I was getting hyped up like there's some kind of a new event coming up. I still remember the 1v1 I had with you Musicmee on Lost Gold Fort when you tried to steal me chest xD
And with that being said... from the beginning and till the end, thank you for all these great memories that I got to create in Arena.

@greenglow1985 No, We want to award the Good Boy to those that engaged with Arena during it's life span. While understand the frustration, this is a way of us celebrating the most engaged Arena players and it would not be fair to allow people to grind for it at the end.
I would stand my ground. It's a terribly poor choice for the " serious " players who like to collect cosmetics in the game.
I can understand the choice to close the Arena, I can understand the choice to "remove" the cosmetics linked to the game... But preventing collectors from getting a ship livery under the pretext that you want to reward the most "fervent" players of the Arena when it took more time to launch a game than to play it this last year... and without warning that a new Arena was coming for max levels.
I'm very sorry to sound bitter, but being level 49 and a quarter level, I'm very saddened by this news, and deeply disappointed by this choice.
@meroviel these compensations are not even close to the effort and time put into arena. What about legendary sea dogs? U gonna give those weapons for any pirate legend now?
240 wins and no compensation? And what's going to happen to triumphant sea dog set? Is that set that took 200 combined wins to complete just going to be another doubloon sink? We need proper compensation and not already premade ships from 3years ago.. c'mon Rare, take away arena fine but compensate properly..
Very disappointed in this decision as are my team mates, Arena already had support for it dropped, and is not even that prevalent on the main game screen when loading in anymore, its a very low effort thing to leave in. I don't reply here at all but I feel I have to as it feels like a slap in the face to just to axe it without warning to those who do want to the commendations and get the cosmetics on and off and not to have play it every day.
Arena is a fun mode from adventure and to have the option for instant pvp was great change of pace from adventuring.
The arena as it stands is perfectly fine to play in terms of balance and has no major issues, I firmly hope this decision is either reversed or postponed to allow fair warning. I have supported the game since day 1 and will continue to do so, I do feel enough time should have been allotted to those who want to either play this mode for commendations and cosmetics.

to everyone here that is complaining about the cutoff for the ship sets, these are not things you can earn or grind out, and never were. They’re a “thank you” to those who did it without needing a carrot. People are angry because they feel entitled to them even though they didn’t meet the requirements. Arena has been out for years, and if you’re level 49 and not level 50 already, you aren’t being thanked for being level 50, because you’re not level 50. You can still earn all of the titles and cosmetics that already were earnable, up until March 10th, so just be happy earning those and don’t complain that you aren’t getting a thank you for something you didn’t actually do.
For all of those complaining about cutoff times -
First, there will always be someone who misses out on whatever cutoff time they decide. Second, this is a gift to players who were dedicated to Arena and played it anyway not players who would only play if they knew there was an extra reward in store. You all should be grateful Rare's even giving out gifts for this and that they're keeping PL weapons around.
@thedoctorbrown Arena have been going for approx. 2 years? Is that not enough time to get to level 50? Even playing casually?
@altending46 It's SO dumb. I've gotten to the point where I am genuinely upset about this. Especially after the mention of each set getting parts that were never seen before. I have no friends that play this game so nobody will ever be able to simply log on and equip this set for me. All I want is a weekend "farewell" event to give everyone a small chance to get it. Just to keep the exclusivity

I think a lot o' pirates will come away with some great memories of the battles won and lost in Arena, what I'd like to see is the Tavern opened up in Adventure mode, so players can perhaps go and reminisce about those grand times, with some of the greats memorialised through pictures or other means.
We had some really good fights, with some notable crews who we weren't ashamed to be beaten by and we had our share of victories, yet I'm more than excited for what's to come in Adventure mode this year :)
@meroviel More like saying Goodbye to the few veteran pirates that were too dumb to move on to other games, expecting Rare to eventually fix the one thing that actually makes this game fun. All the good PVP content creators have been moving away from SoT and I can finally see why.
I will truly miss Sea of Thieves, but ultimately the PVE'ers have won, it's all about grinding now, and people that are too good at PVP are just a hindrance and makes the game less fun for everyone else. Finally time to move on to a better PVP game, thanks for the kick in the behind, I needed it.
Getting the Glorious and Triumphant sets before this was impossible because the queue times were so long, trust me I tried because I really wanted the Triumphant set. It's been on the backburner for when they finally fix the queue times. and the commendations to get the Triumphant sea dog is SO HARD. top 3 100 times to unlock Glorious then top 3 with 5 pieces of glorious equipped 100 times to unlock Triumphant?!?
Your right, they are gifts. And I am extremely grateful that Rare recognizes the community members that put in the work to reach lvl 50, and play arena.
As for everyone complaining about missing out on the ships sets that were given as a gift for reaching lvl 5 in Seadogs. They have no one to blame but themselves.

Let's just call it like it is. Disney said "jump" and Rare said "How high?". There's so many things that anyone can SEE we're pre-planned for arena. Then the Disney and POTC updates came out and now here we are.
Overall, Rare will end up hurting their player base overall. Many people always wanted a way to get better at the PVP in this game. How does/can anyone get better in the 1-2 lifetimes they spawn as their boat is peppered to splinters?
All this is doing is ostracizing the skill gap between starting players and players that are already TSD/LSD. Now what about the 4 man gally of average players against the what will soon to be Old Arena sweats?
The good players will get better and the not as good will get worse. This game will stalemate with no one new ever wanting to play because there's no way for people to get better.
@raesed-digital this and Disney have no correlation. Also it was a collaboration, they haven’t been bought by Disney.

Yep, 1st year anniversary legend cosmetics had a heads up, overachiever had a heads up, etc. This is the first time they said "announcement" and everyone who had it before announcement gets said stuff, everyone after is sol.
I wouldn't be so salty, but at like 49 and 2/3 to 50? Come on, lets give it at least a few weeks since arena is kicking around until March for crying out loud.
