I’m cool with everything besides the shadow drop cut off times. I thought we learned this lesson awhile back. Whoever makes these decisions have to come together and reconsider the cut off time without telling anybody.

I’m just happy to get some new ship cosmetics out of this.
I should clarify that I'm about level 14 in Sea Dogs, so while I'm relatively impartial to what happens with the game mode from this point onwards, I deeply respect the sheer number of hours the Sea Dog community has spent battling in the arena and I can understand how disappointing this news is.
With that said, I agree pretty much wholeheartedly with every decision surrounding arena's shut-down.
Of course, it had such a low play count and regardless of where you want to place the blame, it's a fact noone can change. Because of this I feel like rare made the right decision to shut down the tavern, especially considering the manpower that will be needed in other areas moving forward. Arena was seeing diminishing returns and I truly think it was a matter of when, not if, it would shut down.
On the topic of 'returns' I feel like the way arena based rewards are being handled from this point on is perfect. Most people only really played arena for pirate legend cosmetics and there are new ones being made available. It's partly because of this that I cannot stress this next point enough, the existing rewards for arena SHOULD NOT be available to obtain in the future, anything else would be an insult to the Sea Dogs that played and loved arena.
Again, my deepest respects to the Sea Dogs out there, especially those working at Rare that were so passionate about the Sea Dog arena, I think people's reactions are undercutting the simple fact that arena wasn't introduced arbitrarily, it had a tangible soul, and the people that provided that will be sad to see it go. In the end however, I think this decision will come with more positives than negatives and I'm hopeful for the future.
This seriously, SERIOUSLY, seriously needed more than a months warning for completionists and those after level 50 and cosmetics, they should have mentioned they were thinking about shutting down Arena's long before so people had plenty of time. This is going to be such a nasty grind that burns me out of the game really badly going from 10-50 before march..
I mean come on you already gave up on arena, like just let people play it as adventure is sometimes just way too long, arena is a short and fun way to jump into SoT quickly. Like just because there's a small amount playing doesn't mean you gotta close it down, just keep it up and continue to ignore it.

@bluelycanroc294 We want to award the Good Boy to those that engaged with Arena during it's life span. While understand the frustration, this is a way of us celebrating the most engaged Arena players and it would not be fair to allow people to grind for it at the end.

On the issue of Pirate Legends weapon could you give a Golden Legendary variant including sword, pistol, EoR and blunderbuss (similar to the ones given to people who reached legend status before the game was 1 year old) to everyone who got them before the closing of the arena, and make available new goals to achieve the old variants.

This is sad to hear but if I can pitch the idea since a lot of us are close. Why not just change the kills to allowable in adventure? That way we can still get the sets that we need and love? The weapons are very difficult but may be easier that way. Please don’t take them forever. -Love KN1G4T RANGER

@xray-i-iluziaa Rare cares very much about its players. They could have closed Arena today and given you nothing.
Maybe more than 2% of players would play it if they didn’t spend 75% of their time in the tavern and 25% in matches?! If matches had started with a minimum of 2 crews rather than waiting for 5 then it’d have been much more popular!!!
The writing has been on the wall for arena since they ceased development for it
Got a feeling it’ll be DeMarco and/or Lesedi that’s the character killed off (that was teased in the trailer) so they can tie in shutting down arena into the lore of the game
@justsaiyen93 fair. But events were made to be time limited. Arena wasn't intended to be time limited. People will miss out, and it's why i dislike events, and prefer content that everyone can experience and enjoy!
For me this is the saddest decision you have made for the game I completely understand why you made the decision but for me this game mode was so thrilling and I will miss it a lot. I just hope that by going on this route you have a plan for the pvp encounters on the adventure mode because this was a quick way to have some pvp with people having the same opportunity to win an encounter, this is not possible in the adventure mode.
I also would like to speak about the triunfant seadogs I think we should get our own reward for completing all the achievements in the arena and not only for getting to level 50 that was grinded by server alliances.
