Can we please get servers that are customized to playing style?

  • PRO TIP: If you want to kill and be a [Mod edit] when playing PvP, go to the arena. THAT'S WHY IT'S THERE. Can we please get servers that are customized to playing style? So we dont have to spend more time fighting off [Mod edit] who only want to do harm than we do actually playing a storyline? with that being said, What is the actual point in sinking a grade 5 emissary what theyre asking to alliance? Do people not realize you can get 10+ times the reward if you just emissary plus you dont have to screw with someone elses work. Seriously. 5 hours to be sunk by some [Mod edit]. For what? Absolutely nothing but a laugh.

Not entirely correct. PvP is part of both Adventure and Arena. Arena is designed for having a competitive experience, as well as a more condensed experience with a time limit. Adventure is about entering a sandbox where the sky is the limit.

Also, you really should circumvent the language filters on the Forums. No need to get derogatory about things.

If you mean PvE servers, no. And this will also become a closed thread real fast since this has been put to rest officially by Rare directly. If you mean no progression Custom Servers that you can mess around in, those are being tested and are presently mostly for content creators (though they may see a wider release at some point). That said, as noted, they will feature no progression as that is not the game experience.

with that being said, What is the actual point in sinking a grade 5 emissary what theyre asking to alliance? There could be many reasons for this. Yes, Alliances can net a bit of Coin, but they come with an inherent risk as well (you are exposed on the Map to others in the Alliance and those Pirates have every ability to betray you). Pirates also lie, just because you say you're friendly and want an Alliance doesn't mean that you aren't just saying that to lower the guard of the other Crew and take them out.

If you are running Emissary, that is the high risk/high reward OPTIONAL system as your Flag itself is actually Loot for anyone who sinks you (and can give a huge bump to a Reaper Emissary). So that is one reason they might sink you.

As a Grade 5, it stands to reason you might have a bit of Loot on board. Taking that Loot (we are all Pirates after all) is potentially another reason to come and sink you.

All other Ships you see can pose a potential threat to you, so some folks will elect to come take out a threat proactively even if they don't care to take the Loot or the Flag.

The Crew might have needed to use that Island/Outpost/Seapost themselves, and felt it was easier to just remove a potential threat from where they needed to spend time.

They may have been more bloodthirsty Pirates who are looking for the thrill of the kill, and again don't care about the Loot or the Flag, they just want to take you out. This is perfectly viable in this sandbox.

There is a lot that you can do to mitigate the chances of being sunk by other Crews, and that comes with experience and a willingness to defend yourself if you are attacked. Once you are attacked, you may as well think of them as an advanced AI ship (you get jumped by Skeletons, Megs, Krakens as well via the PvE, all of which have the potential to sink you after your 5 hours of hard work). It is just another threat that exists out in that big open world sandbox you need to be prepared for. I'd also argue that if you had fun for those 5 hours up until that point, overall you came out net positive since that is what a game is meant to be.

I'd recommend not hoarding Loot for a full session and only selling at the end. This CHOICE is one of the only ways you could end up having a session go completely south on you and net nothing gained (though this isn't even true, now, with Seasons providing rewards and Coin just for existing in the world basically - no cash in required and no one can take that from you).

So, I'd say, rather than rage about it or request for the game to change completely, you take it as a learning experience and take steps to mitigate the sting of your losses so that battles you end up in can be just another fun part of the game. In time, you'll accomplish pretty much anything you want in this game, at most people can only slow your progress to things but not prevent them.

Better luck in your future endeavors out there on the Seas!

You answered your own question...the point of sinking an emissary grade V is just that, the grade V flag and a good chance to have loot on board

This thread seems to be just another PvE server request...so, in before locked 😁

  • Ahoy!

The team have semi-recently given their thoughts on the topic of PvPvE and discussed it in an official Podcast here.

There is also a thread for Custom servers here.

Sea of Thieves will always be a shared world adventure game, with elements of both PvP and PvE but Joe did speak about Custom Servers about a year ago. These servers will not offer Gold or progression IF they become available to the public. Private Servers are still being tested with our Partners.

    Dropping anchor on this now.
